Cheryl Lowe - My Fire Quilt
During all the quilt making and collecting of the Bush Fire Quilts I just had to make something for me. I had the Amy Butler fabrics so I had to find a simple pattern to suit as time was very sparse. Once again quilted by Chris Calhiros of Sandlyn House.

Norma Aitken - Takeita's Blanket
Made in June 2009. This was made for my daughter Michelle. The dog she adored attacked a small dog which consequently died. As a result, her dog needed to be put down. Michelle was inconsolable and many tears have been shed over this dog. This quilt was made to be a happy reminder of Takeita, who absolutely loved Michelle - but hated other animals. I am delighted with the result, but many tears have been shed during its construction.

Judy Nolte - Beautiful Butterfly
Commenced in a Raw Edge Mosiac Applique workshop with Lorraine Carthew at Be Creative by the Sea 2008. Finished just in time to hang in a display of work from previous years at Be Creative by the Sea 2009. The fabric was hand dyed in a Sandy Corry workshop a number of years ago. Many times since that workshop this fabric was taken out, spread out, gazed at lovingly, smoothed over, refolded and returned to the cupboard whilst awaiting a suitable project. Taking the scissors to it took great resolve on my part. Now I need another worthy project for the rest of it.

Judy Nolte - Breaking Out
Commenced in a Chris Timmins workshop "Designing with Strips' at Be Creative by the Sea 2007. Finished just in time to hand in a display of work from previous years at Be Creative by the Sea 2009. Machine pieced and hand quilted. This quilt was an attempt to produce something a little different from the traditional scrappy quilts I usually favour, hence the title. I was not sure where I was going with this one for a while but it finally fell into place and now I am enjoying its warmth this winter.

Joanne Donelan - Bushfire Quilt
This quilt was sent from Sutton Coldfield in England, made by my Aunty Barbara who was devastated by news of the bushfires. She wanted it to to to a family affected by this tragedy. Aunty Barb is an amazing lady - each year she holds a fete in her garden of all local handmade craft items to raise money for local charities - last year raising 5000 pounds. She is convalescing after minor heart surgery at the moment getting ready for this year's garden fete next month. I'm honoured to represent my Aunty Barb and pass this quilt on on her behalf.
